Super Subtraction

Hands on Home learning this week

Create a visual for 4 of these subtraction strategies.  Explain the problem and show how you use a certain strategy to solve it.  You could be creative and use a movie to show, comic life, draw images to show with actions showing what you do!

Week 2 WWW Focus- Silent Letters

Listen carefully to the sounds in words!
What about if we can't hear them?  This week we are having a class focus on words that have silent letters in them.  Can you see a pattern that will help you remember them?  Visit spelling city by clicking on the image below and locate your list.

QuadBlogging? What's that?

What is QuadBlogging?  Blogging on 4 wheels?  4 people contributing to one blog?
No !
Check it out
QuadBlogging is a leg up to an audience for your class/school blog. Over the last 12 months 100,000 pupils have been involved in QuadBlogging from 3000 classes in 40 countries

We are part of a Quad! Yipee!

Below are our buddies.  Explore their blogs and record your Questions and Answers on a QuadBlogging doc of your own.

What countries are these classes in?
What age are the children?
How are their blogs the same or different from ours?
What questions do you have for them? ( use your questions matrix)
What would you like to post on our blog to give them information?

The blogs above are all just starting their year ( how does that work?) so what would you like to know about what's going to happen?

Happy QuadBlogging!!!

44 through the Obstacle Course in 15 minutes

44 through the Obstacle course in 15 minutes
So close to 45.  Regardless of the result I was really impressed with the  team spirit.  Everyone did their best.  Great effort.  There was a lot of measuring and figuring out how it would all fit into the hall on such a yucky wet day.

How's that room 3?

Obstacle Course Challenge with RSS

On Wednesday we are combining our obstacle course with the one that R3 from Russell St School made.  Here is the movie that Cayden and Luka put together from our trials.  We will see how many people we can get through the course in exactly 15 minutes.  Good luck!

Challenge #2 with R3 RSS

Our next challenge is to both design an obstacle course an then join our designs togehter.  The plan is to see how many we can do within a set time.

Put your thinking caps on 7 Wonders.  What would be fun to put into the course?

An hour challenge against R3 Russell St School

We calcuated our steps for 1 hour!!!  We did a range of cool things including maths, spelling and heaps of team work .

Our total score was 144495 steps and then we divided that by the number of participants and our average step count for the hour was....... 5351steps.

We had a mixture of physical and academic activities- all fun:)

Wow! Great work team.  Imagine our daily score if we worked out like that all day:)  Can you do the maths on that?

An Active After School Time

I was very excited when this movie appeared in my inbox.

The enthusiasm has been overflowing today since we have put on our pedometers and started working towards the jump rope day.  Check out these two enthusiasts at work after school.
Great commitment guys:)

A cool Competitive GCC connection

We are connecting with R3 at Russell St School to add to the fun!  Check out the collaborative doc that we will use to share some ideas on how we can 'compete' against others.

The GCC is all go!

This morning we all put on our pedometers and started to record our steps.  The classroom was empty this morning before school because all were out doing a variety of activities to increase  the number of steps that we  do.

We have a 50 day challenge ahead of us. 50 days to help us change some of our habits.  It will be really interesting to compare:

1.  The start number of steps ( day 1) to the end numbers.

2.  Our fitness level?  Will it improve?  How will we know?

3.  Our ability to read numbers into the tens and hundreds of thousands. ( upside down)

4.  Our knowledge of what an average number is.

5.  How our activity changes. e.g What we are doing to increase our level of activity!  ( without being encouraged)

We have used instant alpha on the mac but there are a few examples of using Green Screen Studio.  What else would you do to put yourself in an amazing place?
Going to Epic in your dressing Gown? or Leaping across buildings?
This is an activity we did last year using instant alpha that lead on to some awesome descriptive writing.  What do you think?
